Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone app integration are new this year and relegate navigation duties to your phone's default app rather than the last year's BringGo premium app. Inside, the instrument panel has a more traditional and flowing look to it, which we like better than last year's blocky dash. The refreshed car has new grille and headlight designs, both of which look similar to newer Chevy vehicles such as the Spark and Sonic. In 2017 the model got a face-lift with alloy wheels and styling to match the rest of the Chevrolet range’s evolution.The exterior differences between the 20 Trax are immediately obvious. ![]() The Chevrolet Trax is also limited in its transmission offering only a 6 speed automatic to US buyers though they could choose between front-wheel or four-wheel-drive. To make up for this the car did come with Sirius satellite radio and OnStar for navigation and safety reasons in the US region. This was a bit of a shot in the foot for the Trax as it made it less of a “utility” vehicle. The American market had only one choice of engine, a 1.4-liter turbo that meant the SUV was not appropriate for towing. ![]() It wasn’t until 2015 that the SUV would become available in the USA but faced stiff competition right away from the Jeep Renegade and Buick Encore. Originally only sold outside of North America, the Trax quickly gained customers and so far has exceeded the sales of the previous year every year.
